Urgent Development - News from the Netto campaign!

Dear Netto Stakeholders, Many thanks to all of you who have signed the petition so far. We are now well over 800 supporters. We are doing really well - but we would like to reach at least 1,000 before we send the petition to Sainsbury's. So please do keep sharing this petition as much as you can - if you know anyone else that is affected that hasn't signed, please do get them to sign. We have already managed to gather some media attention, in the Hull Daily Mail - see http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/save-our-netto-stores-petition-launched-to-stop-supermarket-closures/story-29487304-detail/story.html. Stakeholders in Hull have been particularly affected by the sudden loss of their Netto store where a local homeless charity, Project Hotdog, was supplied by donations from Netto - a particularly bad example of Sainsbury's callousness in this situation. This is an appalling way for a large supposedly reputable company to behave. The situation is getting even more urgent now as it appears that Netto stores have already begun closing. A 50% off closing down sale launched yesterday appears to have been designed to clear the stores out quickly - so much for them staying open until August! As the picture below shows - we turned up to do our shopping at 7pm tonight in the Edlington branch and it was shut already! Yet there was no sign of this this time last week! So please keep supporting the petition - we need to let Sainsbury's know that we are upset about this. Best wishes, Kevin
