So folks, it seems that despite nearly 100,000 people signing this petition and thousands more writing personally to CEO Mike Coupe, Sainsbury’s still aren’t listening and taking our concerns about their ‘Fairly Traded’ tea seriously. They’re clearly not convinced that their customers won’t accept anything less than the Fairtrade Mark going back on their own-brand tea. So it’s time to take things up a gear! The Don’t Ditch Fairtrade campaign, led by CAFOD, is organising a national Day of Action on Saturday 28 October. Fairtrade supporters across the country are going to gather outside their local Sainsbury’s store to make it crystal clear to them that ditching Fairtrade is not our cup of tea! The plan is to chat to customers, collect signatures on a letter to the store manager and most importantly take a photo and send it in to the local paper. So let’s get Fairtrade supporters outside every single store on the 28th October! Sainsbury’s can’t ignore us then! Making a noise on the day couldn’t be easier, all the resources you need are available to download at http://www.dontditchfairtrade.com Can’t get a group together? Not a problem, just hand in a letter as part of your weekly shop. If you’re planning on getting involved, drop CAFOD an email at campaigns@cafod.org.uk as they’re keeping track of the number of events being organised and can answer any questions. If you’re busy on 28 October but would still like to support the campaign, please share this petition and get us to 100,000 signatures! Thanks for all your support, Barbara #NotMyCupofTea Photo (c) CAFOD
