Petition updateSafer Veterans Australia – No More Zombie Veterans CampaignSubmission to the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide

Hello supporters, earlier this year I lodged my submission to the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide. My submission details my PTSD medication journey, the benefits I found using medicinal cannabis and the fight against DVA for access to medicinal cannabis for veterans suffering with treatment resistant PTSD.

Please keep supporting and sharing this petition https://chng.it/CtpgVXzDDD

Scientific peer reviewed evidence shows that the currently approved DVA ‘medications’ to treat PTSD do not work long term, degrade the veterans mental and physical health, and often times increase the rates of suicidial thoughts, suicide and relationship breakups.

The cost of medicating a veteran long term with dangerous and ineffective psychiatric medications can cost more than $9,000 per month, the cost of medicating the same veteran effectively and safely with medicinal cannabis costs less than $2,000 per month, a massive saving to the Australian taxpayer and DVA.

If Minister Matt Keogh wanted to help veterans and reduce the veteran suicide rate then he would look at the massive amount of hard evidence and allow veterans with PTSD to use medicinal cannabis to sucessfully treat their PTSD condition.

In the interest of veterans and families I have chosen to make my submission public and to have my submission held at Wagga Wagga later this year.

Thank you for your support, please contact your local federal member or Minister Matt Keogh and tell them that giving Australian veterans with PTSD access to medicinal cannabis will improve their lives and greatly reduce the rate of veteran suicide.

Regards,

Derek Pyrah
