Safe Walk La Jolla Blvd/Tourmaline 10/31

Respect Bird RockSan Diego, CA, United States
Oct 27, 2026

Hi everyone,

You’re invited to join us for a Halloween Slow Walk for Safe Streets — a community slow-crosswalk action at one of the community's most prominent pedestrian crossings.

  • When: Saturday, October 31, 2026, 11:00 AM – 12:00 Noon
  • Where: La Jolla Blvd & Tourmaline St, near Tourmaline Surf Park
  • What: A deliberate, visible group walk across the crosswalk — costumes encouraged, signs welcome, media invited.

Why we’re doing this:

The crossing at La Jolla Blvd and Tourmaline is well-trafficked and needs enhancements — especially for pedestrians, cyclists, and older adults. By walking visibly together on Halloween, we’re calling for safer speeds and safer street design for everyone.

How you can help:

  • Show up — bring friends, family, and a costume if you like.
  • Share — forward this email or repost our Instagram post.
  • Print & post — we have fliers available; let us know if you can put one up at your workplace, church, gym, or coffee shop.

This event is hosted in partnership with AARP, the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition, and Respect Bird Rock.
