Hi all, thanks again for your support. Just a quick update on what's happened as a result of this petition so far. The short answer is 'lots of presentations'. Everyone is aware of the problems, completely agrees and then refers this on to someone else to solve the problem. I've yet to find the person who is able to say "we can fix this". Overall, this is concerning, as no one seems to have the authority, will or budget to change very much. This petition has been directly presented to: Waitematā Local Board Auckland Planning Committee Auckland Transport's Walking, Cycling and Road Safety Manager I've had email correspondence back from: The Mayor (Who says it is AT's problem) A variety of Councillors (saying it's the Local Board's problem) Chair of Auckland Transport's board (very positive) I've not had a response from either Julie Anne Genter nor Phil Twyford, or directly from the new AT CEO. This petition has been used as part of submissions on both the Auckland Council '10-year Budget 2018-2028' and in response to the draft 'Government Policy Statement on Land Transport' for 2018 recently released. In both cases the relevant aspects of the petition were highlighted. I am trying to get a presentation to ACCAB (who spends the cities targeted rate) via CCRG, hopefully in May. I will be asking for projects targeting the school route from Hobson along Union Street to Freemans Bay Primary, tactical improvements to Sale and surrounding Streets and lots of kerb buildouts. (I will also be raising individual tickets for all 'non-accessible' footpaths (uneven surfaces, missing pram ramps etc.)) This has all transpired at a convenient time (Draft GPS, AT's stated changes) but I'll be continuing to use this petition as a battering ram to try and effect change. Feel free to reference the petition if you are raising issues with Auckland Transport Thanks again for your support.
