Dear supporter,
We’ve WON one of the battles!!! (Well, at least for now.).
Transport Secretary Grant Schapps has made the very sensible decision to REFUSE to allow #tfl to build on Cockfosters station car park*.
He is quite rightly concerned about the impact of the loss of the car park on transport users. Read more about it on our Facebook page and in the Evening Standard.
So for now, we have Saved Cockfosters!
There are however, numerous other car parks still under threat of closure.
Kind regards,
Kate B
* This is despite the fact that Enfield Council's planning committee bizarrely gave the go-ahead for the development on 3rd February. Prior to building on it, TfL required permission from the Transport Secretary to dispose of their operational land (i.e. the car park); this permission has not been given, meaning it cannot be built on (at least the proposal that was approved by Enfield Council cannot be built).
