Reports are emerging that Sadiq Khan will make electric cars pay the London Congestion Charge from next year.  

At present Electric vehicles are exempt from the charge. 

The news will cause concern for many petrol and diesel drivers in and around the ULEZ zone that Sadiq Khan can easily change the rules and force more people to pay a tax to drive their cars. 

The rights of motorists has been an important issue in the election, with the Conservatives promising to scrap Labour’s ULEZ expansion in the next Parliament with a Backing Drivers Bill.
