Charge for Disposable Coffee Cups to Reduce Waste and cut Carbon Emissions

The Issue

A recent study by Cardiff University academics has proven that by introducing a charge, similar to the 5p charge for plastic bags, we can reduce the number of disposable coffee cups by 300 million a year.

This reduction in waste would not only reduce our landfills and the unattractive sight of rubbish, but also reduce the amount of cups produced, therefore cutting Carbon Emissions and helping the UK be a key contributor to the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

It is these small changes that can lead to a nationwide change in how we perceive waste, recycling and reusing.
