Petition updateSack Cumbrian Coal Mine Boss from Government Advisor Role for Nuclear Dump

On the day Mark Kirkbride's Coal Mine Was Approved - Whitehaven Harbour Turned Red with Pollution

Almost a year ago the Cumbrian Coal Mine (West Cumbria Mining) was approved by Michael Gove.  The day was December 7th.  At around the same time the harbour in Whitehaven turned red with pollution from old mine workings which were likely reactivated by the 'exploratory boreholes' of Mark Kirkbride's business interests at West Cumbria Mining.  The pollution has been pouring out of the harbour for a full year now with no end in sight.

The image is from an ongoing 'comic' book which is semi-autobiographical and gives an overview of the labyrinthine twists and turns of this unbelievable 'story.'

We are planning to hand in this petition soon calling for the termination of Mark Kirkbride's appointment to the Committee on Radioactive Waste Management - this is the committee that is advising Government on the deep nuclear waste dump plans - the target area is right next to Mark Kirkbride's coal mine.

Please keep sharing the petition - this is a scandal of the darkest corporate/governmental cronyism and it must be called out.

Many thanks

Marianne.
