Howdy folks,
Please, make the time to be there for the St Kilda Mangroves this coming Tuesday morning from 11:30 till 12:30 on the steps of the SA Parliament House in the city for the vigil to Save the St Kilda Mangroves.
I will be there from about 10:30am and for a while afterwards if you would like to have a short personal statement of connection to the St Kilda Mangroves captured to share through our social media feeds and on the website. Please allow plenty of time for that before or after the vigil.
There was an interesting comment from Suzanne on the previous update mentioning the vigil shared by me for the petition, which is nearing 10,000 signatories currently.
They said: Fingers crossed there will be enough supporters to impress decision-makers.
My personal reply (as a concerned individual) is: I have no idea what that is actually going to take with our current decision-makers, Suzanne. The repeated and continued tactic of theirs to obfuscate the facts with PR firm induced rhetoric on mainstream media is killing this environment further every day that they choose to actively engage in that manner.
We, the common people need to unite and make a stand for this vitally precious piece of the Adelaide environment. We need to do this actively, merely clicking an 'Angry Face' on social media or sharing a social media post to our friends is sadly not enough. That does not let those in charge know that their actions are disrespectful of the Internationally, Federally and Locally protected natural world of the International Bird Sanctuary and Dolphin Sanctuary at St Kilda and surrounds.
Please, I implore you, take the time off work for an extended lunch, take the time between school drop-off and pick-up, take some of your well earned retiree or university holiday time and make the journey into town to be there on Tuesday morning en-masse with as many others as you can muster.
Suzanne, thank you so very much for being an active part of this petition, your concern is self-evident!
Have a good weekend people, stay safe and be well.
Kindest regards,
Alex
