Distillerie : ce qu'il est important de savoir

Un mot pour vous remercier d’avoir laissé entendre au maire d’arrondissement François Limoges que votre voix se joint à celles de nombreux résidents du quartier, CONTRE le projet de distillerie au 6665 Jeanne Mance.
Quelques informations additionnelles :
o Nous vous invitons à visionner ce reportage récent de l’émission La Facture sur la situation cauchemardesque vécue par des citoyens habitant les alentours d’une distillerie de whisky à Sallaberry de Valleyfield cliquez ce lien
o Nos élus font souvent état de la distillerie Cirka située à Verdun à titre de comparaison avec le projet du 6665 Jeanne Mance. Cirka ne distille pas de whisky et donc la question problématique du champignon du whisky ne s’applique pas dans ce cas. L’arrondissement compare des pommes et des oranges
o Cirka produit environ 50,000 bouteilles par an. Le promoteur du projet Mile Ex parle de 100,000, soit 2 fois plus. Rien ne pourra l’empêcher d’augmenter la production si un changement au zonage de l’édifice le permet
o Le marché des spiritueux locaux est très compétitif; la survie d'une distillerie implique une production à grand volume.
o Selon le code national de prévention des incendies, les distilleries sont classées comme « établissements industriels à risques très élevés »
o En janvier 2023, un incendie dans une distillerie cise dans une zone industrielle de Calgary faisait l’objet de toutes les stations de nouvelles en Alberta
o On sait aussi que le promoteur du projet a mis en ligne une pétition qui a amassé de très nombreuses signatures (plus de 600 à ce jour) La plateforme change.org permet d’augmenter la portée d’une pétition en la supportant monétairement. Nous avons signifié au maire d’arrondissement que la pétition CONTRE le projet de distillerie dans le Mile Ex ne fut pas l’objet de promotion pour en augmenter la portée. Le caractère local de la pétition que vous avez signée fut aussi souligné.

Cet article fut publié la semaine dernière et nous sommes en attente de la diffusion d’un reportage au Téléjournal de 18 h, sur les ondes de Radio Canada ainsi que d’autres reportages.

o Our elected officials often refer to the Cirka distillery located in Verdun as a comparison to the project at 6665 Jeanne Mance. Cirka does not distill whisky and therefore the problematic issue of whisky fungus does not apply in this case: it is concluded that to reassure, the borough compares apples and with oranges
o Cirka produces about 50,000 bottles per year. The promoter of the Mile Ex project talks about 100,000, which is twice as much. There is nothing to stop them from increasing production if a zoning change to the building allows it.
o The distillery industry is a very competitive market; its survival depends on high volume production.
o According to the National Fire Code, distilleries are classified as "very high risk industrial facilities".
o In January 2023, a fire at a distillery in an industrial area of Calgary was all over the news in Alberta
o We also know that the project proponent has put a petition online that has amassed a large number of signatures (more than 600 to date). The change.org platform makes it possible to increase the reach of a petition by supporting it monetarily. We have informed the borough mayor that the petition AGAINST the distillery project in Mile Ex was not promoted to increase its reach. The local nature of the petition you signed was also emphasized.
