Awww-ight People!
When it comes to tireless campaigning, you can't always get what you want, but sometimes, you might find, you get just what you need. Oh yeah, baby. Take a bow Sir Mick Jagger.
I am delighted to confirm that Mick, an up-and-coming local singer, has signed to the S.O.B.B campaign label. He even interrupted a minor musical recital tour of America called Hackney Diamonds to tune in to our news and voice his support.
Richard Eden, the excellent diarist on the Daily Mail, has covered the story in today's Daily Mail and for Mail Online.
Sincere thanks to Mick for backing our street fight. He has had an association with Chelsea going back to the early 1960s and the formative days of his little pop group when he lived in Edith Grove. He still has a grand house in the area and has a lasting affection for the neighbourhood and this stretch of the river.
I know that Mick is a seriously knowledgeable connoisseur of architecture and agrees that this preposterous tower is all wrong for Battersea residents, as well as for the historic river vista.
I can also report that Lord Browne of Madingley, who lives on Cheyne Walk, has also signed the petition. He joins Eric Clapton, Anthea Turner and Felicity Kendal. Other star signings are expected to be confirmed soon. In fact, if Ringo comes through, I will probably release a single and fix a free concert on the bridge. That reminds me, Bob Geldof has a strong connection with this area.
But it is you people who really matter. Please don't forget to post a comment to Wandsworth Council. I noticed yesterday that only ONE planning application notice has been put up on a lamppost about this application. ONE. Rolling eyes emoji. Spread the news. This will be a long fight.
A huge THANK YOU to Mick for signing the petition and for letting me make the news public. A legend who clearly rocks community spirit!
