The 2014 Final Annual Statement for Ryanair makes interesting reading: Passengers carried = 81,700,000 Post tax profit = Euros 522,800,000 => Net profit per passenger = Euros 6.40 Cost of an AED in UK = c£800 (N.B. bulk buying would be cheaper). £/Euro exchange rate (market) as @ 24/06/2014 is £1.00 = Euros 1.40732 => cost per AED is cEuros 1125.86 Required number of individual passenger flights to generate profit @ Euros 6.40 per passenger flight to buy one AED = 176 individual passenger flights per AED. The total net profit from 2014 would buy 464,204 AEDs So how many do Ryanair need.... from the Final Annual statement for 2014 the fleet was 297 aircraft in fleet at end of 2014 (with 180 on order to be phased in from 2015 to 2018).... so right now they need c300 AEDs. This would cost cEuros 337,758... or put another way... 0.065% (rounded up) of their post tax profit to equip the whole fleet with an AED Is that really too much to ask?
