Religious Slaughter. Labelling Must Not Be Misleading.

The aim of this petition is for the Government to implement a clear and honest labelling system for the meat sold in our supermarkets.
Everyone should have an informed choice of what we, the customer, is buying. This, however, is not the case.
The law in this country states that religiously slaughtered meat " must be done in a way that follows Jewish and Islamic religious practice and that the meat must be intended for consumption by Jews or Muslims". The law also states that " labelling must not be misleading".
Cast off Halal ( haram, meaning 'not permissible') and the rejected rear end of the carcass ( Jewish faith) is in our food chain. It's sold on by stealth, unlabelled. This means that the law is being breached and ignored as it stands.
Because the cast off Halal and rejected Kosher has still been religiously slaughtered, it is forbidden to be consumed by other religions such as Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs and Hindus amongst many others. For meat to be Halal it must receive a blessing whilst the animal is conscious. A pre-stun or reversible/recoverable stun or no stun, as with Kosher, is used. The animal is unconscious for 20 seconds, regains consciousness to be blessed ( Bismillah-Allahu Akbar) and is then slaughtered. Many see this barbaric slaughter as cruel and an abuse on our animals and would prefer not to buy religiously slaughtered meat. A full captive bolt stun would be the preferred method.
Halal is labelled for Muslims and Kosher for Jews. Nothing is labelled for the rest of us.
By signing this petition we are asking the Government to:-
1. Enforce clear and honest labelling on cast off Halal.
2. Enforce clear and honest labelling on rejected Kosher.
3. Enforce clear and honest labelling on meat that has received a full captive bolt stun.
Colour coding, similar to the traffic light healthy eating symbol could be adopted. A green circle for cast off Halal, a red circle for rejected Kosher and a blue circle for full captive bolt stun. No unnecessary complicated wording required just quick, easy recognition.
We too have the right to know what we are buying. The law says so "labelling must not be misleading". We too have the right to abstain from religiously slaughtered meat, giving us an informed choice.
Please sign this petition, make a stand and help to make a change in the way our meat is labelled.
