Good evening Just an update to say last week I was lucky enough to be involved (in my capacity as an actress) to work on creating a piece of theatre to raise awareness of genetic heart conditions. Rebecca Shorrocks started this project called “The Beat Hoes On” after being diagnosed with a genetic heart condition following collapsing after a run. She had been working as an actress for over a decade & into her high intensity fitness. Which is usually great, but when you unknowingly suffer from but possibly exacerbated her condition Arrhythmogenic Right Vebtruclar Cardiomyopathy (ARVC). Its a progressive condition and exercise can irrevocably damage the heart. She has an ICD fitted andhas returned to work. Since learning 80% of people with her condition are diagnosed post mortem, and twice as many women due if heart conditions as cancer has shocked her and made her goal be to raise awareness of genetic heart disease. We pit together different ideas to develop a play from and performed fk an audience last Friday with helpful viewers such a British Heart Foundation & Cardiomyopathy representatives coming to watch & feedback. The idea is now it’ll be developed into a play we can tour with. I’ll let you know when it’s touring - in case it’s in a city near you! 3 people are still dying a day waiting for a transplant. Please spread the word & share the petition. Thank you Lucy
