Hello Lovely People My local TV station Salisbury TV interviewed me about the campaign and consultation. The interview is airing from 6pm (and regularly repeated) from 6pm this evening on Freeview Channel 7. I know not many of you will necessarily have access/watch this channel but if you do feel free to tune in. It all raises awareness about the current Organ & Tissue donation in the UK - the sooner the Soft Opt Out system is introduced the better. As I write this there are 6,482 people on the UK transplant waiting list that's 6,286 people dying to live. Thankfully as massive 3302 transplants have been carried out since 1st April 2017, but it doesn't take a statistician to work out that by 31st March this year not everyone on that list will have received their much needed transplant. In fact if we carry on at this rate 3,926 people will have been transplanted within this financial year which is brilliant. But (assuming no one on the current list becomes too ill or dies waiting, or is added to the list by 31st March 2018) then there would still be 5,662 people waiting. When Scotland announced in June last year that they were bringing forward their plans to introduce this system this was following their consultation showing 82% of people were in favour, so please if you haven't filled out the consultation find 10-20 minutes before 6th March to do so. We are so close now it would be gutting to miss out because we haven't expressed our views! https://engage.dh.gov.uk/organdonation/13-2/ As usual any queries are welcome you can contact me at: optoutcampaign@gmail.com Kindest regards Lucy xx
