Petition updateLet’s All Opt In to Introduce the Opt Out Organ & Tissue Donation System
National Donation Awareness Week

You maybe aware this week (5th-12th September) has been National Donation Week and I have spent the week answering FAQs about transplantation and myth busting common misconceptions such as you can be too old to donate. There is no age limit on becoming a donor - you maybe surprised what can be used. The only body parts with an age limit are:
80 years of age for corneas
60 years-old for heart valves & tendons
There is no age limit for skin or bone donations.
The aim being that by sharing such facts it will spark a conversation and lead to people who may not have considered what would happen to their bodies after death to express their wishes to their loved ones, and perhaps sign up to the current register and even this petition!
Come 31st March next year over 4700 people currently on the transplant waiting list will still be waiting - six months later still waiting to live despite 96% of the UK population being in favour of organ donation. Let's change this for the better by Sharing this petition again and raising the Vital Awareness this week has been all about!
