I returned from the annual British Transplant Games held in Newcastle yesterday. It was a fantastic long weekend having the honour of competing alongside fellow transplantees, and meeting all their supporters in the form or friends and family. I cannot aptly express how inspirational and kind and positive everyone was. Also how physically fit many transplantees are - many able to outperform a non-transplantee of the same age. But it really was not the winning that counted (although that is obviously an added bonus) but just the delight we were all well enough to compete and only there due to someone else's generous donation. Many people I met were very aware of others they knew waiting for a transplant. There are currently 6930 people in the UK on the transplant waiting list, and although an amazing 1117 transplants have been carried out since 1st April this year (a third of the year) if we carry on at this rate and no-one was added to the waiting list until 31/03/2016 then there would still be 3669 people waiting, this is why we cannot wait like them for the system to change - it needs to happen as soon as possible! Thank you for all your overwhelming support so far you really are key to this happening. If you can please do keep sharing this petition and raising the topic of expressing your views to your loved ones. Kindest regards Lucy Ryan
