20th April 2016 – Update Dear supporters I would like if I may provide you with a brief update on the campaign. On the 16th April we marched from Gower street to Trafalgar Square on the anti-austerity March. It was cold and we started the march in the rain, but what a day, and like last year there was a great response. I met with many wonderful people along the route who had traveled from all around the country to offer their support. It was estimated that there could have been as many as 150,000 people attended the march. See relevant links below http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/gallery/2016/apr/16/london-anti-austerity-march-in-pictures https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKhttwI_mgA http://www.expressandstar.com/news/uk-news/2016/04/15/campaigners-take-anti-austerity-message-to-the-streets/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTa_9MI20uw http://dpac.uk.net/2016/04/peoples-assembly-4demands-rally-givin-it-some-dpac/ Maggie & I in the middle of Trafalgar square with the quilted banner bearing the names of people believed to have died while on sanctions that we know of. The sun came out by the time we got to Trafalgar Square. One after another speakers stood up in front of everyone and passionately spoke about why they were there. Many of them ordinary people doing extraordinary things despite their personal struggles with life. So many people stopped to talk to us and took photos of our quilt. Our day was sad and yet so vibrant at the same time. I will keep you updated on all progress relating to the legal action now being taken regarding my brother David’s case (see below). http://www.crowdjustice.co.uk/case/david-clapson/ Finally we will update you as soon as possible about our protest tour of London Jobcentres with the banner. My heartfelt gratitude once again Many thanks Gill
