People who are cruel to animals should be put in prison because pets and animals are basically human. If we assault a human we get put in prison for 10 years but the average jail term in Australia for assaulting an animal is 2.5 years. We should increase that to a minimum of 10 years because animal cruelty is as bad or almost worse than assaulting a human because an animal can't speak up and it can also really affect the animal even when it's adopted it will still be scared of people because of what happened in the past and the bad experience of people and therefore will never get on with people. Moreover, the owners will never learn if they go to prison for 2.5 years because they just use assaulting an animal a cop out to assaulting a human because they won't get imprisoned for a longer jail term but if we increase the jail term they won't assault animals they won't assault anyone because they know they will get imprisoned equally to as assaulting a human. If you sign this petition and share it around it will get everyone's attention and therefore become so big the government can't ignore it.
