Cease publication of Greenwich Time and pursuit of any associated judicial review or appeal immediately

The Issue

The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has given clear direction to Greenwich Council that Greenwich Time is in breach of the rules and must cease publication by March 30th.

The council's recent decision to disregard this ruling and seek a potentially costly judicial review is inappropriate, especially at a time of cost-cutting elsewhere.

In addition, the services provided by Greenwich Time can be provided by the local, independent press - by continuing to publish a free, partisan local council newspaper you are putting the very same independent press at risk.

We also believe the council does many good things which would be covered by the local press regardless. By continuing to publish a one-sided view of the borough, and following a path of legal action, you will do more harm to your reputation than good.
