Some of you may recall at the March 12th RWA Board meeting, the RWA Board agreed to allow a resident-written article regarding the proposed 212-unit development, The Quarters at Rotonda, to be published in the April edition of the West Ways newsletter.

A Rotonda West resident, did submit an article for publication in West Ways. However, the RWA substantially revised the article in a way that no longer reflected the author’s original intent. The resident requested that her name be removed, and as a result, no article was published.

The RWA Board did not communicate to anyone that now there would be NO article in the West Ways about The Quarters. No alternative was provided for the article to be submitted under another resident’s name so the article could appear in West Ways. Many believe the Board has a responsibility to ensure that all residents are informed about things that can severely impact their quality of life in Rotonda. This is especially important because a significant number of residents remain unaware of this major proposed development that will have a lasting impact on Rotonda West.

We did share the original letter titled “NEW PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT & WHY IT MATTERS” on our Facebook page, Change for Rotonda West?, and Change.org, but we are discouraged that it did not reach the broader Rotonda West audience through the West Ways newsletter email distribution, which we understand reaches approximately 6,000 residents.

Our goal is simple: to ensure all Rotonda West residents are informed and have a voice.

With that said, we encourage residents to take action:

  • Attend RWA Board meetings — Next meeting: April 9th at 11:00 a.m. at the RWA Community Bldg. 646 Rotonda Circle. Voice your concerns, ask your questions, and demand action by the RWA. 
  • Write emails/letters to RWA Board members and address your concerns, request that The Quarter’s be placed on the agenda of the Board of Director’s Meeting. (see list of email addresses below)
  • Stay informed by following updates through our Petition Site: Change.org: https://www.change.org/Stop-RotondaWest-AptUnitDevelopment  and Facebook Page: Change for Rotonda West? https://www.facebook.com/groups/1627471978295590

Areas of concern that you can address to the RWA Board members may include:

  • Traffic and road capacity
  • Drainage and stormwater, flooding
  • Environmental issues
  • Density and compatibility with our community character
  • Lack of Deed Restrictions on CT and OMI Lots

Our Volunteer Research Groups have been actively researching this proposed development, including concerns regarding the above listed items.
