Interesting work being carried out by Dune LIFE and Natural England to protect Dune systems in the UK. I had no idea that our sand dunes were at such risk from evasive plants and urban development.

We now have 352 signatures from the people of Camber to stop any development or permeant car parking on Johnson's Field.

This is amazing, thank you everyone!

There are still many people that this will effect, so please continue to share with people that might not know about this possible development on Johnson's Field.

Reading this information from Nature England makes me think we should be doing more ourselves. We should not only stop the disruption of this dune system but we should help improve it. Protecting the sand dunes and giving them room to move and grow will in turn improve wildlife and will also protect our homes against flooding. It's a win win.

Find the Natural England DuneLife document on the link.

Here is an extract: Healthy sand dunes with moving sand are a sanctuary for endangered plants and animals like the natterjack toad, dune gentian and sand lizard. However these habitats are currently being smothered and fixed by a tide of invasive non-native plants turning it into scrubland. Sand dunes are now one of the most at risk habitats in Europe. Only 20,000 hectares remain across England and Wales – an area around half the size of the Isle of Wight.
