FIGHTING DISEASE: The World Health Organization has classified red meat as a Group 2A carcinogen (probable cause of cancer) and processed meat as group 1 carcinogen, in the same category as tobacco, asbestos and plutonium.

PROVIDING CLEAN WATER: Industrial Agriculture is responsible for almost three-quarters of total fresh water use worldwide, and also the single largest consumer of water in Canada- it is estimated that 100x more water is required to produce 1 kg of animal protein than to produce 1kg of grain protein - "by 2025 1.8 billion people will be living in countries or regions with water scarcity, and 2/3 of the world populations could be under stress conditions." For these reasons, it is reasonable to state that ILOs (intensive livestock operations), as the single largest industrial source of water stress, represent an extreme threat to the well being of humanity.

SANITATION AND HYGIENE: From CBC archives: "The manure problem plagues the entire country and is not exclusive to pigs. In an area known as Feedlot Alley, located in Southern Alberta just north of Lethbridge, roughly 1.3 million cows or 1/5 of total cattle in the province, excrete more untreated waste than the cities of Calgary and Edmonton combined."
