Serve ONLY Humane Certified Food At Zoo Miami

Serve ONLY Humane Certified Food At Zoo Miami
The Issue
Zoos and Aquariums should serve as the primary example of how captive animals should be treated, regardless of their role in society. Zoo Miami attracts over a million visitors a year, whom consume tons of food and beverages annually sold at the park in concession venues. Much of this food, in the form of hotdogs, hamburgers and chicken, is sourced from factory farms where livestock live a miserable existence. Cows are chained in feedlots while pigs are crated, unable to even turn around in their tortuous confinement. Chickens are raised indoors, standing in their own waste, never seeing the sunlight. It’s time for Zoo Miami to demonstrate their commitment to animals and their welfare by sourcing ONLY grass fed, pasture raised beef, humanely treated pigs and free range chickens in the food they sell to the public. Ask Zoo Miami to be the example in animal welfare standards, while making food healthier (grass fed beef is high in omega three fatty acids) for its visitors. After all, the animals they sell for human consumption should have the same quality of life that their captive money making population has, or even better.
