As per the RWA website, "the purpose of the RITA® contest is to promote excellence in the romance genre by recognizing outstanding published romance novels and novellas". At the 2012 general meeting for RWA, changes were made to the RITA category lineup-- the Romantic Elements and Regency Historical categories were eliminated. While change is in the air, I would like to propose the long overdue addition of an Erotic Romance category-- no matter the nature of that erotic, romantic relationship.

We, the undersigned, call on the RWA RITA committee to, in future, include a category for the the very popular, long overlooked subgenre of erotic romance.
