Thanks to everyone who has signed the petition asking to pull back the University of Wisconsin-Madison's planned expansion of alcohol sales to students. 

This is an important problem.

In 2019, I wrote to Jake Baggott, the UW-Madison's director of Recreation and Wellbeing expressing my concerns about this plan. I compared the UW's behavior to the case of the Ford Pinto. Documents showed that Ford knew that the Pinto was dangerous but could be inexpensively fixed. The Pinto had a nasty habit of catching on fire if it was struck from behind, but Ford didn't fix it. It placed its profits over the lives of its customers. In a similar move, The UW is prioritizing profits over the health of its students.
