FOR ANYONE WANTING TO DO THEIR BIT AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE, CONSUMING PAPER PRODUCTS IS A VERY SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE WAY. AFTER ALL, THE MORE PAPER WE USE, THE MORE TREES HAVE TO BE PLANTED, THE MORE CARBON IN THE ATMOSPHERE GETS PREVENTED FROM DOING GLOBAL WARMING HARM. UNLESS PLASTICS ARE 100% RECYCLED WORLDWIDE, A VIRTUAL IMPOSSIBILITY, THEY WILL CONTINUE TO HARM THE PLANET Source: Challenging the case for plastics over paper | Daily Maverick

Plastic is polluting our environment and it’s ending up in our food chain.  Scientists don’t the effect this has on the human race yet, but surely consuming plastic can’t be good for us.

There are many ways that plastic consumption can be reduced one way is our supermarkets. The UKs worst offenders of plastic pollution are supermarkets.  To make the UK e better place for future generations we need to reduce plastic pollution and what better place than our supermarkets?

Reducing plastic pollution will have a positive impact on animals and future generations of humans.  The countless images of animals wrapped up in plastic are heartbreaking.  Supermarkets are not doing enough, in order to make the world a better place I am asking for  is ASDA, Morrison’s, Tesco, Waitrose, and M&S  to remove plastic bags from all their shops and replace with a  heavy duty brown paper bags for:

  1. bagging groceries
  2. bagging loose fruit and veg
  3. bagging breads snd baked items

Paper bags are both recyclable and biodegradable. Paper bags are made from a renewable natural resource, can be reused repeatedly and can be shipped to a paper mill and remade into new paper. In fact, it actually requires less energy for paper bags to be recycled than it does for plastic. Paper bags are also biodegradable and pose less of a threat to the environment and wildlife.   Wil you join me to help the environment sign and share my petition today.
