Take away the right to bear arms from domestic violence convicts.

The Issue

Currently, laws against domestic violence aren’t strict enough. A domestic violence conviction is only a misdemeanor, it takes multiple convictions to become a felony. A domestic violence law was implemented in Arizona, which takes away the right to bear arms from anyone convicted of domestic violence. Someone convicted of domestic violence can earn back the right to own a gun by filling out an application to the court after all penalties have been served. After the application is submitted, the waiting period can be up to two years. This law should be passed in Michigan. If someone can hit you out of anger, if they had a weapon, they would probably shoot you. The community should come together to make a change that will save lives.
