STOP THE DISPLACEMENT OF SCHOOL #1

My heart aches regarding the situation that our children, parents, families, teachers, and staff are going through as it relates to the Modernization Project. Our children have become casualties of a system in place that is now failing them; as a result of political and economic gain. We are working really hard to bridge the communication gap, work together to come up with strategic plans so that our children and their families are not negatively impacted by transition, and decisions. Our goal is to partner with parents, community stakeholders and families. Parents and families have the right and the ability to obtain skills and resources so that they to can feel empowered to advocate for their children. Hopefully the15th meeting on November 17, 2016 at RCSD Central Office will bring us some closure. School #1 and the community at large still has no answers. Anderson School No. 1 • The Children’s School of Rochester No. 15 • Joseph C. Wilson Foundation Academy WHEN: Thursday, November 3, 2016 6:30 p.m. WHERE: RCSD Central Office 131 W. Broad Street, third-floor conference room 3A/B WHAT: Phase 2of the Facilities Modernization Plan calls for the School 1 building on Hillside Avenue to be renovated, with students moving into a “like-new” facility for the 2019-20 school year. A plan approved on March 24, 2016 by the Rochester Board of Education, called for School #15 students and staff to move into the renovated Hillside facility in 2019. After further discussion, the Board has reached tentative consensus on a new plan for Schools 1 and15. It will utilize space at Wilson Foundation Academy that becomes available when high school students currently there transition to a new location. At this session, District leaders will provide details and answer questions about the new plan, which the Board may vote on at a special meeting on Monday, November 7th. * There was no VOTE NEXT MEETING NOVEMBER 17, 2016 AT 6:30PM; RCSD CENTRAL OFFICE
