Petition Delivered to DEC and APA

We were able to deliver this petition in person to the DEC, Robert Stegemann and Terry Martino's office on Tuesday September 15th. Mr. Stegemann assured us the Meacham Lake boat launch project was going to happen and that we would like it! There will be NO boat wash station with an attendant to monitor the invasive aquatic species. The lake steward program which is volunteer, will be evaluated, there is no assurance of having a lake steward. The project is expected to last for one year so campers can expect to contend with trucks and heavy equipment on the camp road for the entire 2016 summer camping season. They will also be allowed to use some pressure treated lumber in the water as well.
Rumor has it that site 173 will also be taken. Any disturbances with boaters and campers need to be reported to the park manager, Bruce, but no cell service is available in the park.
No trees can be cut until October 1, 2015 as per the Army Corps of Engineers permit. 348 trees will be cut down.
We sincerely thank you for your support and the comments. We think we are saying goodbye to the loons and the bald eagle.
Dave and Kathy Meacham
