I/We the undersigned, hereby declare our support for the de-amalgamation of Scarborough from the City of Toronto. We are requesting that Premier Kathleen Wynne and the Ontario Government honour the 1997 municipal referendum where 76% of Scarborough residents overwhelmingly voted against amalgamation, only to be arrogantly, forcefully and undemocratically merged with the City of Toronto along with six other neighbouring municipalities by the Ontario Government, or Scarborough should at least be given the legal and democratic option along with other amalgamated municipalities to de-amalgamate and reconstitute their former status through a municipal referendum vote, if there is sufficient support for it. Our goal is to pursue the de-amalgamation of Scarborough from the City of Toronto in order to restore accessible and accountable local democratic government. We invite you to join us.
