Just under seven weeks from now, Judge Robert K Adrian from Illinois's Eighth Judicial Circuit (which includes the following Illinois counties: Adams, Brown, Calhoun, Cass, Mason, Menard, Pike, and Schuyler) will be prosecuted against before the Illinois Courts Commission on three complaints filed by the Judicial Inquiry Board.

1. This link will take you to the Amended Complaint, filed January 26, 2023.

2. This link will take you to the Answer to the Amended Complaint.

...many times when a sexual assault occurs, a victim will not even report the crime. Whether because they have family or societal pressure to "sweep it under the rug," or their religion has taught them to be silent, or they feel as though reporting will not to anything positive but could result in negative consequences for them, or for whatever other reasons each individual may have to hold in the suffering, 63% of sexual assaults are not reported to police.

And when things like this happen, where a 16 year old child does report an assault, immediately, and it is investigated by the police, by forensic labs, by a court of law, and there is a trial, and at the end of the trial the rapist is found guilty... but wait, it gets awful - THEN, at the sentencing hearing, where this 16 year old girl has come to read her victim impact statement and see her rapist be sentenced, the judge decides he doesn't want to uphold the mandatory minimum sentencing requirements provided by the Compiled Statutes of Illinois so he uses his outside voice to tell everyone in the courtroom that he's going to reverse his finding of guilt so the rapist doesn't have to go to prison because he's too simple and baby-faced...

How do you even go about trying to tell victims that their voices are important and their stories need to be told and accountability needs to be held when you've got a precedent like that staring you in the face?

And how does Robert K Adrian's refusal to admit he did things he very clearly did do differ at all from Drew Clinton's refusal to admit what he did? How can you say you are an authority of the law if you are no better than the criminals you set free?

It was the victim's fault because her memories were too fuzzy from being intoxicated. It was the victim's fault because of what she wore. It was the victim's fault because one of her friends carried her to a couch in a room and left her there with a sick bucket because she was afraid of being in trouble if she went home. It was the parents' fault for not keeping her home that night. It was the parents' fault for not being in 100% control of what their teenagers do at all times.

WHEN IS IT THE RAPISTS' FAULTS?

Robert Adrian has never shown an ounce of remorse for any of his actions, exactly like Drew Clinton was never sorry he raped a teenage girl he didn't know, had never shared a conversation or date with, who he found attractive when she was swimming, watched her throw up over and over, saw her get carried into a friend's house because she couldn't walk herself, knew was lapsing in and out of intoxicated sleep and heard complain of feeling sick again and again before he got bored and decided to sexually assault her before playing some video games.

I don't know about you, but I lost a lot of respect for the judiciary in January of 2022. Before, I didn't really have any strong doubts about the Eighth Judicial Circuit Court in Adams County Illinois, and singularly because of Robert K Adrian's decisions, I now have a lot of doubts.

And I thought, naively, that when he got called out, he would have done the right thing and admitted his faults, but instead he just filled our community with lies, misrepresentations of Illinois laws, vitriol toward victims and advocates, and campaign promises that he will help rapists circumvent the laws in the future.

So now we are here, and in a little less than seven weeks, Robert K Adrian will stand before the Illinois Courts Commission and, if I had to guess, he'll continue to lie to them as he has been doing, in an unethical attempt to save himself, because to him that is more important than being honest.

We invite you to join us in person and/or in spirit this November as we watch and pray that justice will prevail.

Thank you all.
