Mary Griffith Show Interview with Lindsey Lane; Nov. 2, 2022 (at 9:09 minute mark)
We have always been about the same goal - hold Judge Robert Adrian accountable for his indiscretion and abuse of judicial power. Namely, we petitioned leaders at the State of Illinois level to help. And, they heard us. The Judicial Inquiry Board did find cause for issuing a complaint, and the Illinois Courts Commission is examining what they've said they believe is a case where this circuit court judge did attempt to unlawfully usurp the boundaries of his own authority to circumvent the judicial process - and then knowingly lied about that action to the Commission when interrogated.
We're patiently waiting for the next status update on that concern - which is currently set for mid-December 2022.
What can we do in the meantime?
Well. I'm glad you asked.
Do you live in any of the following Illinois counties?: Adams, Brown, Calhoun, Cass, Mason, Menard, Pike, and Schuyler.
Vote him out.
Between now and Monday Nov 7, vote at your county's courthouse. On Tuesday Nov 8, vote at your polling place. If you aren't sure where your polling place is, follow this link to find out: https://ova.elections.il.gov/PollingPlaceLookup.aspx
There will be a question which reads: SHALL ROBERT ADRIAN BE RETAINED IN OFFICE AS JUDGE OF THE CIRCUIT COURT EIGHTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT?
NO
We're focusing on this because it's also always been a core message of ours that change happens little by little. It happens action by action. Sometimes, it happens merely because an action was taken, regardless of how quickly or completely the desired effect is felt -- the fact that you take the action can be the change. It can alter your own inner dialogue. If someone else sees you act, it can inspire others to act, to care, to keep fighting. It's a chain built link by link, and ultimately, we want to see all of us involved in standing up for what is right. Because we're neighbors. We're co-workers. We're your family and friends. We're people you see. We know each other.
And to have Robert Adrian not retained through a public vote would, in our eyes, remind survivors that their bravery in coming forward, speaking the truth, seeking justice - it's very important, to all of us. And we hear you.
Loud and clear.
This isn't an appeal to people who vote Republican or Democrat, who are conservative or progressive, or Tea Party, or Independent, Green, Libertarian -- anything -- this is not a partisan issue. This is if you want judges who are going to follow the law and protect your rights (your family member's rights, your friend's rights...) if or when the unthinkable occurs. We do.
If you're not in any of the aforementioned counties, look into your own area's elections. Keep tabs on what your local courts and judges are doing. Let people know you are awake and engaged in fostering a community that wants to make this world a kinder, gentler place.
We're all spinning around on the same space rock, people.
Make it a good place to be.
Thank you.
