Dear Mr. Adrian,
I come before you as a member of the community, which it is your duty to serve, to respectfully request that you resign from your position as a judge effective immediately. It is my belief that you have violated the code of conduct that has been set forth for your profession, and therefore, you have lost the public’s confidence in your judicial integrity.
A judge’s role is to respect and comply with the law and you swore an oath to do so. On January 3, 2022, you violated these aspects of the judicial code by not abiding by the lawful sentencing requirements set forth for a class 1 felony. You expressly stated in open court you changed your ruling because you did not want to follow the law. With your statements, you showed contempt for the laws you swore to uphold and a clear bias and prejudice against sexual assault victims.
Furthermore, on January 4, 2022, you expelled a prosecutor who was duly admitted to the practice of law from the courtroom based on his support of the victim in this case. Your behavior was blatantly influenced by your family and social relationships and you overstepped your authority.
Your admonishment of a sexual assualt victim and her family was crass, improper, caused them great harm, and denied them the justice they deserved. Moreover, it has destroyed my faith in your capability to operate as an impartial and honorable representative of the judiciary.
