Trailers at Monroe Twp. Middle School NJ ~ 08831

The parents of Monroe Twp  are very concerned about the proximity of the trailers at the Middle School in relation to the road.  As you know, Perrineville Road is a very busy road and has had it's share of accidents in recent years.  The accident from last year (see below) clearly proves that we can not have our children so close to the road.  We do not want our children to be placed in arms length of cars, school buses, trucks, etc.

The trailers were on the side of the school at one point years ago. If trailers were placed in the back for high School students, they should be placed there again for middle school students as well. Any modifications to the existing building or sewer lines if needed should be made to enable the placement of these trailers in the back away from the main road. Temporary portable restroom trailers could possibly be used in the interim.  The current set up is highly unsafe and will be totally unfair to the hundreds of students who are chosen to be placed in these trailers for an entire school year.  Building a barrier is unacceptable.  If one has to consider placing barriers for protection, that obviously means the location is unsafe. The trailers need to be moved prior to this school year in order to prevent what could be a very tragic incident.

Our children need to be situated in the school or next to it; not near the side of a very dangerous road.   We need to protect our children from:

* A driver under the influence

* A potential accident due to Inclement weather

* Unfortunately in this day and age, someone with malicious intent

Thank you,
The concerned parents of Monroe Twp

Dear Parents,

This morning, the driver of a pickup truck lost control of his vehicle on Perrineville Road resulting in the vehicle striking the scoreboard near the football field. The driver was tended to by police and first responders and taken to the hospital.

Fortunately, no students were in the direct vicinity of the accident and no students were injured. Students who were outside at the time of the accident were brought back into the school.

We will inspect the area and, if necessary, repair any damaged property.

Sincerely yours,
Dr. Michael Kozak
Superintendent
