President Barchi on student wage increases

President Barchi eliminated office hours when he took over as president of Rutgers University and over the years has refused to meet with student groups. The disconnection between him and the community is clear in this email. It is not surprising that someone making $808,000 has turned a blind eye to poverty, but for a university president to not know his students are working 2 or 3 jobs to afford school is embarrassing--especially as an employer that kept them working 2 or 3 jobs because of low wages!!

To call a wage increase "financial aid" is disgraceful. We earn that money. Our labor is worth $15/hour. When Barchi gets a wage increase 325/hour to 408/hour is that financial aid or did he "earn" that raise? Is he really working that much harder than he was last year? Does someone who makes that much really need a raise?
