Riverbanks zoo just announced that their beautiful western lowland Gorilla named Kazi , is pregnant and will be having a newborn in 2018....This is VERY exciting news if you are an avid animal lover like myself, I got very excited when I saw the post on their website announcing the pregnancy. News that did not strike me positively on the other hand was the news of the situation that took place in Cincinnati last year. The zoo lost one of its Rare silverback gorillas; Harambe, to an unspeakable tragedy. In light of these recent events when Harambe was put down after a small child fell into his enclosure to get a closer look, I am asking for Riverbanks Zoo Staff to consider naming the new gorilla infant Harambe, or if it turns out to be female Herambe in memory of the beloved 17 yr old western lowland gorilla. I feel like this would not only bring Riverbanks zoo an increase in revenue due to people pouring in to see the new exhibit but it would also help the healing process of the many people who are still mourning the death of the late Harambe Now I understand people will be lining up to see this baby gorilla regardless of what he/she is named but I feel like by simply naming this gorilla in honor of the late Harambe the zoo would be nationally recognized and people would travel far and wide to meet the little one. Harambe has a great following. Not only has the internet craze far from died down but he was voted for thousands of times in the recent election which speaks measures. Please take this into consideration. Let Harambe live on vicariously through the newborn !
