MoneySavingExpert Martin Lewis to joins campaigners and MPs in delivering petitions to Treasury on behalf of 3 million excluded from financial support during Covid-19
We are honoured to have been invited to join Caroline Lucas with Jamie Stone, Tracy Brabin, Liz Saville Roberts, Matt Western, Christine Jardin and an SNP MP, to present our petition along with four other Change petitions, to the Treasury today. And to have Martin Lewis, MoneySavingExpert join us, is the cherry on the cake!
Gathering today are myself (Amanda Evans), Adrian Silk, Adam Chan, Alex Gatenby, Cheryl Carroll, Corrine Mayes, David Hewitt, Ellie Phillips, Gina Broadhurst, Jodie McCallum, Jon Franklin, Kate Robertson, Kate Solomans-Freakley, Lucy Whittington, Rachael Willoughby and Tansi Inayat. Thank you to all for taking the time to do this. Mikey Thomas, our Go-To social media Do-er, is sadly unable to attend – but I have your Darwin hat! You will be there!! Keith Webb, you're here in spirit!
We will draw attention to our causes through the press and media channels attending today, the same day that Rishi Sunak meets with the Treasury Select Committee for his evidence session.
Our petitions will be presented electronically to the Treasury today, due to the Covid19 restrictions. Caroline Lucas secured her Back Bench Business Committee debate on the SEISS off the back of this 348k strong petition, and is pressing for a date before Parliament goes into recess.
We will keep you updated on progress, and please look out for this in the press.
You can use the material from this as it emerges to send to your own local news today, to raise awareness and keep things fresh in the news.
Keep the pressure on!
Have a good day!
