Help Us Advocate for Red Bluff to update the General Plan to make Historic Chinatown a “Cultural Resource” !

We need your support to preserve Red Bluff’s Historic Chinatown and recognize it as a Cultural Resource Zone as part of the city’s historic district. This designation will help protect our community’s rich heritage such as buildings like 202-204 Walnut Street, Red Bluff, California, the last Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) building, owned and operated during the era of the California Alien Land from losing their historic significance.

While we are pleased that the draft EIR acknowledges our recommendations that a Cultural Resource designation is missing from the current general plan, we have more work to do. The Planning Commission will hold an adoption hearing for the new 2024-2044 General Plan and Environmental Impact Report. This is a critical moment for Red Bluff’s Historic Chinatown’s future, and we need your voices to advocate for the inclusion of Chinatown in the city’s historic preservation efforts!

The City Council’s final adoption meeting:

  • Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 5:30 PM
  • City Council Chambers

The General Plan and Environmental Impact Report are available online:

Your support is crucial in ensuring that Red Bluff’s Chinese American history is recognized, preserved, and honored. Spread the word and let’s make history together!
