We also sent this email to all St Thomas City Council and Mayor Preston in hopes they will come visit our community in person. 🙂

Dear Mayor Preston and Members of Council,

We hope this message finds you well.

On behalf of my neighbours, we would like to respectfully invite each of you to visit our neighbourhood and walk the area where the proposed Doug Tarry apartment development (Application #34T-26502) is planned.

A site visit would provide an opportunity to see firsthand how the proposed building's height, scale, and massing would relate to the existing homes and character of the surrounding neighbourhood. While reports, drawings, and engineering studies are valuable tools in the decision-making process, they cannot fully convey the real-world context and perspective that comes from experiencing the site in person.  We believe that walking the block and viewing the area directly would provide a clearer understanding of the relationship between the proposed development and the existing community. It would also offer a more accurate sense of scale and help illustrate the potential impact on neighbouring properties, streetscapes, and the overall character of the area.

As Council considers this application, we respectfully ask that you take the opportunity to experience our neighbourhood before making a final decision. As residents, taxpayers, and registered voters in this community, we believe it is important that decisions of this magnitude are made with a full appreciation of the neighbourhood that will be most directly affected.  As proud St Thomas homeowners, we hope that Council will take the time to come and visit the block this weekend to see it through the eyes of the people who call it home.
