Do not lower educational hours in Nebraska for Cosmetology, Barbering, and Nail Techs.

Do not lower educational hours in Nebraska for Cosmetology, Barbering, and Nail Techs.
The Issue
Resolution 232 proposes to reduce the required cosmetology educational requirements from 2100 hours down to 1500. I am also voicing my opposition to reductions in LR-227, 228, 229, & 230. If this becomes law, it would cut over 28% of the required hours to complete cosmetology or barber training. Education is powerful. The current level of professional practice in Nebraska protects the safety of the public. (Especially those I know and love.) The confidence and safety that Nebraskans now enjoy, when they enter a professional establishment, could change quickly should educational standards be lowered.
I respectfully ask you to "say no" to lowering educational requirements in the state of Nebraska for Cosmetologists, Barbers, Nail Techs, Estheticians, and Massage Therapists.
