Animal abuse is on the rise worldwide.

Dogs and cats are being abused on a daily, hourly, basis.

Did you know that most municipal shelters are high kill? For those of you who may not be aware of what this term means, its when the shelters euthanize healthy animals in their care, be it due to lack of funding, over crowding, and sometimes, for financial gain.

Did you also know that over 90% of non governmental run rescue and re homing centres are run by volunteers and are financed by these same volunteers and well wishers? 

Did you know that most of these fur babies have been rescued from life threatening situations? They've been dumped, neglected, starved, tortured,(some by children as young as 5!) beaten, used as bait for dog fights, been used as combatants in dog fights, the list is endless.

In a lot of these cases, the abusers are known and for one reason or another, are not penalised as they should be.

They may get a small fine, be banned from owning animals for a certain period of time, maybe community service, but no real penalty is imposed on them.

The proposal of this petition is for the implementation of a worldwide animal abuse registry, so that when these people are convicted, their names are automatically added to the list so that where ever they may go, their record follows them.

As individuals, there is only so much we can do to help alleviate these innocents suffering, but, if we can make enough noise, world wide, maybe then, we can truly make a difference to these beautiful creatures lives and well being.
