Roads, bridges, and other critical infrastructure in the US are in big trouble. The crisis in Flint, Michigan, where an entire population was exposed to lead-contaminated water, is a horrifying reminder of the consequences of bad decision-making and failing infrastructure.
Tonight, I’m writing to you because Flint is the canary in the coal mine and we need you to join a movement of people across the US demanding that our elected officials address the infrastructure crisis in the US.
The way to join the movement is by starting your own petition. It only takes a few minutes to highlight an infrastructure need in your community, state, or in the US. Your petition will be a way to connect people and give rise to their voices. The more petitions that get started, the harder it will be for decision makers to ignore one of the most important issues facing our country.
The US’s infrastructure is ranked 12th in the world. This means that, though we are the world’s richest country, our leaders are failing to invest in our health and safety. Besides the crisis in Flint, we have seen bridges collapse, gas explosions due to pipes that are nearly 100 years old, and roads in disrepair.
I don’t want to see another family forced to pay for water that is poisoning them, or question if the roads and bridges they drive on could kill them. The time for action is now. Please start your petition today: https://www.change.org/start-a-petition/us-infrastructure-crisis
Thank you!
