Last night we smashed the 2,000 signatures mark!! Thank you all again so much!!
We've been busy leafleting again today and with now aching limbs are really pleased from the response we got from everyone we met.
Word is definitely spreading and everyone feels the same - we've suffered long enough, time for a change and we are all excited for the future plans for the area, that DOES NOT include dragging us back 30 years to a time of pollution. Yes some people may get jobs, but who wants to work in that environment anymore? Plus the tourism will bring more jobs directly and indirectly from other opportunities. And we want better for our children. A cleaner healthier environment that could become the place for people to visit for our spectacular scenery, clear dark night skies (we so hope Wales Planetarium gets the go ahead) and rare species conservation projects. Educational, recreational and plenty of opportunities for local businesses to build and grow.
We also went up to the national viewpoint on Rhigos mountain to look at Pen y Fan in the distance. The whole Valley was glistening today. We informed all the visitors and some regular bikers, some of who already knew and had already signed the petition. Anyone who now goes up there with now all be informed. By the middle of next week we will have leafleted/ postered all the way down to Mountain Ash/ Merthyr and Glynneath, with the help of our fantastic volunteered helpers. Thank you.
On the way back we passed our own recently opened ice cream shop in Hirwaun (!) - people were queuing out the door (was a beautiful day wasn't it) and it suddenly felt like this could happen, if we say we want it and we make sure we are heard.
So please continue to tell everyone you can. Harass them to speak up!! So easy to let other people speak for you, but in this case the number of individual opinions DO MATTER.
