The original plan was to build a by-pass road to the top of the Rhondda Fach, it was only completed up as far as Pontygwaith, and not up to Maerdy as initially intended. With ever increasing traffic, some roads have (at peak times) become quite heavily congested.

Complete the remaining stretch of by-pass road linking to the road leading to Aberdare mountain road.

My name is Margaret J C Davies, I was born in this area, and spent my formative years in Maerdy. I have moved back here after many years, and am surprised that the planned by-pass road had not been completed. Planning has been passed for housing in Maerdy which will increase demand for better access. With a single, sometimes heavily congested road, the by-pass would be a boon for the area.
