Today, we went down to the city council offices and I was not sure what to expect. I mostly thought that speaking to someone face to face might help city council see us. To my surprise, the Mayors Assistant came down and met with Lily and myself and she is going to present it to the Mayor and we can go from there! I had to breakdown why that was exciting to Lily, but once she found out that means that potentially our voices can be heard she jumped right on board. She is wanting to help present the petition and explain what is being proposed and really been involved in the democratic process. This is such a cool opportunity for the kids to to see wheels in motion and one on one how the government works, and to be able to make a change because if our kids believe they can work hard and change things that will continue to grow and enrich her entire life, attitude and self worth. I have to ask myself is that what's wrong with society these days? People no longer think their voices matter and that they can make changes? This feels bigger then saving endangered chicken breeds at this point. We want to thank everyone who has supported us through this journey. Your signatures, shares, and encouragement helped us keep pushing for a way to be heard. This is proof that persistence and community support can open doors - even when the process seems impossible at first.
