Petition updateRevoke Leicester University’s ‘Student Sex Work Toolkit’Announcing launch of the Nordic Model Now! university handbook
Nordic Model Now!
Oct 18, 2021

Since launching this petition, we have been hard at work writing a handbook for universities setting out what universities should be doing in this area. We are thrilled to announce that it will be launched at an online event at 2pm BST on Sunday 21 November. We are also planning to send a printed copy of the handbook to every single university and medical school in the UK.

The handbook provides a realistic understanding of the sex industry, the short and long-term impact of involvement within it, what policies and codes of behaviour need to cover, and how best to support those who are caught up in the sex industry. It looks at the responsibilities universities have under the Equality Act 2010 to work to prevent the discrimination and further disadvantaging of students who are young, female, LGBT+, disabled, or racialised, and to improve the relationships of those from all the protected characteristics, including between women and men generally. It argues that any efforts to bring about positive change on university campuses in respect to sexist attitudes and behaviour are doomed to failure unless programmes directly address the sex industry and porn consumption.

Please consider coming along to the launch and help us raise awareness of our handbook. Also, please keep on sharing the petition wherever you can.
