We’ve reached seven and a half thousand signatures – thank you.
The University of Leicester has been made aware of our petition and has indicated two things that we are pleased about: That they’ll be reviewing their policy in January; And that meanwhile, feedback on it is welcomed. Good.
Let’s make sure that between now and December, we get as many voices on this petition as possible so that come January’s review date, they see just how widespread opposition to their toolkit is and they decide it’s not worth keeping.
So between now and then, get your friends and contacts to sign and share and leave comments with reasons for signing so that the university knows peoples’ views. The petition is still new so not many people have seen it yet, so please share it as widely as possible too.
Thank you.
IMAGE QUOTE: The quote on the image is an excerpt from the UnHerd 17/3/21 article about the University of Leicester’s student sex-work toolkit by Poppy Coburn. The full quote is: “Teaching staff are (rightly) reprimanded for sexual improprieties with students, thanks to the imbalance of power between them — yet presumably, should a man in a position of power buy sex from a student, those nasty questions of consent disappear into the ether. There is something unsightly about universities plunging its students into debt while holding up prostitution as a valid choice for financial aid.”
