Sadly signatures and support has slowed down, and as such, so has news on the revival.

As reported by Barbucha Stardust from https://www.cervenytrpaslik.eu/ from the Bristol Comic Con, there was a update from Doug, which can be found here.

Fans naturally asked if they would see a new Red Dwarf. Unfortunately, Doug confirmed that there are no plans at this moment.

Although UKTV ordered a 90-minute TV special, they ultimately canceled the order! Doug had already written two-thirds of the script when he got a call saying that the TV station had decided to stop commissioning comedy scripts. This was despite the fact that Red Dwarf was their most successful show on the channel. Danny John-Jules added to the situation with cynical charm: „Personally, I never trusted them. UKTV. I never trusted them.“

However, the written story will not disappear! Doug confirmed that he plans to publish the unpublished script as a novel. The story of the special was about how the present-day Lister travels back in time to rescue 23-year-old Lister from stasis and give him the life he never had. He also tried to track down Kochanski.

However switching to a positive note, Red Dwarf has been trending a lot more recently, which may offer some hope. From viewership on streaming services to the Official Convention nearly selling out.

And with that said I would encourage fans, with which ever streaming platform they own, and have access to which has Red Dwarf, to revisit our fave show and keep the trend going.

With the Official Red Dwarf Convention, Saturday has now sold out, at present around 20 tickets remain for the Sunday or Weekend entry. VIP tickets remain but are selling fast. Norman Lovett and Robert Llewellyn will now be joining Doug Naylor, Chloe Annette and Hattie Hayridge on July 18th - 19th 2026 at The Level in Nottingham in the UK. Info and tickets can be found here.

Despite enthusiasm and news dying down, this petition will still carry on until we have a definitive outcome, be it a revival or Doug's script in book form.

Least we can all say we tried, and didn't give up, where others have either done nothing or moaned (or both).

For that I (Rimmer) salute you all!
